It takes a fantastic effort to put together a publication of our size and caliber. The wordsmiths pictured below each offer a different voice and perspective to the stories in TellurideStyle Magazine. They are authors, writers, editors and, in many cases, graduates from the nation's top universities-Colorado College, Columbia, Stanford.(One even attended Eton, but got booted for being too progressive...he shall remain nameless.) Bush & Associates, Inc. is most indebted and pleased to have these top-notch writers as part of our team. Their contributions over the years have made TellurideStyle the most award-winning (in editorial and design) publication in the Four Corners region.

Reilly Capps
Reilly Capps has written for the Washington Post and the Boston Globe. A native of Aurora, Colo., he moved to Telluride last winter to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a ski bum, and is now a staff writer for the Telluride Daily Planet.

Jim Chauncey
Shortly after graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire in 2001, Jim relocated to Telluride and is loving life in the mountains. Typically during the summer you can find him trail bound, or in the park throwing Frisbee. Winter finds him skiing, showshoeing or playing goalie for a local Broomball team. His role at Bush & Associates encompasses all areas of design and production, with a concentration on page design.

Justin Clifton
Justin Clifton grew up skiing, hiking & biking in the mountains and canyons of Northern Arizona. After graduating with a journalism degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson, Justin spent 3 years in Savannah, Georgia with his fiancé, Sonchia Jilek. Last year they both decided to establish roots out west again and moved to Telluride. When not running his business, Clifton Design, Justin is an active member of the community and spends much of his free time enjoying the variety of outdoor activities Telluride has to offer.

Elizabeth Covington
Even though she won the eighth grade math and science award, Elizabeth Covington's fascination with the written word drew her down a different path. In college she read every Southern writer she could and aspired to a job with a magazine in New York City. Fortunately a disastrous interview at Vogue threw her off that track. Formerly the managing editor of The Telluride Watch, Elizabeth now writes for the paper and edits its publications, Telluride Shelter and Telluride Adventure Guide. She has contributed to several magazines, including Mountain Gazette and Powder, and last year taught a course in non-fiction at the Ah Haa School for the Arts. She is currently writing the story of her family's 300-year history in Virginia.

Jen Cowan
Jen Cowan grew up on the mean streets of Somersworth, New Hampshire, located in the state's seacoast region. She studied film at the frigid Syracuse University, and slaved in Los Angeles until the smog drove her out. After attending the 2003 Telluride Film Festival, she moved to the San Juan Mountains. Currently, Jen enjoys telling friends she lives in a town called Sawpit.

Kelly Dickson
Kelly Dickson has been a freelance writer for TStyle for several years. After living in beautiful Ridgway for 7 years, she and her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she works for a luxury lifestyle magazine.

Jo Hartman
Jo Hartman followed her brother, Brian, to the Colorado mountains, and promptly fell in love with Telluride. After graduating from the U. of Puget Sound in 2004 with a degree in Psychology, life in a resort town seemed the logical next step. While college friends and foes pursue academic dreams of Fulbright's and Watson's, med school and law school, Jo maintains her freedom with her love of travel and playing outside. Though she intends to leave Telluride in search of "greater things," the snow, locals, sunny days, and offseasons keep her around for "just one more season."

David Holubetz

Mary McLean
Mary Mclean was born in upstate New York with a pen clutched in her tiny hand. Since then, to the dismay of Hollywood and others, she hasn't stopped writing. She moved to Telluride in 1997 and keeps coming back even after sabbaticals in Alaska, Montana, and, most recently, India and Nepal, where she got lost and did research for her great American adventure novel.

Joanna Measer-Kanow
Joanna Measer-Kanow grew up in Los Angeles and left the big city for small town life after graduating from UC Berkeley in Conservation Resource Studies. After obtaining her teaching credential at Humboldt State University and teaching at a one room school house on the Lost Coast in Mendicino in Northern California, Joanna moved to Telluride. She taught Spanish at the Telluride Elementary School for three years before taking time off to stay home with her daughter Ayla. Currently, she is free lance writing and running a buisness with her husband Daniel sustainabily remodeling living spaces. She enjoys playing in the mountains, sleeping under the stars, growing food in her green house, traveling to foreign lands.

Andrew Sawyer

Roger Schaefer
Roger Schaefer moved here eight years ago from Cape Cod for, what was supposed to be, the summer. With his brother's help, he built his house on Horsefly mesa and relishes the scenery, solitude and great neighbors. He enjoys traveling as often as he can, but doesn't plan on leaving.

Kara Tatone
Kara Tatone moved to Durango a decade ago from her native Oregon home. Seeking higher places in the San Juans she moved to Telluride and wrote for the Telluride Daily Planet for the past four years, and continues on a pursuit to spend as much time outside as possible.

Lance Waring
Lance Waring has lived and played in the San Juans for the last two decades. He plans to spend his check from writing this profile at the Telluride Mountaineer. While writing stories for this issue, his interest in music and travel was rekindled. He plans to rock on down the road less travelled.

Susan Watson
Susan Watson is a native of Evansville, Indiana, and moved to Ridgway, Colorado in 1997. She is a graduate of the University of Evansville with a degree in international studies/political science. Susan retired from the travel industry and enjoys life in Colorado with her husband, L.E.

The Fashion Photographer:
Franco Franceschi

“God is in detail.” This phrase of Aby Warburg has stimulated and supported me in the artistic research that characterizes all my photographic productions in fashion photo and in art. My research is free from all ties and expresses my way to feel the world, nature and humanity. It gives to the photographic paper that which my sensitivity has perceived. I choose to concentrate on form and detail neglecting a total view. Professionally, for 25 years I have had published more than 2,000 pages and 30 magazine covers with my photos and I have worked with the most important fashion magazines in Italy, Germany and The Emirates as well as the better companies of Pret a Porter and Hauté Couture. Visit www.franfranceschi.it to view his works.
